A message from the chairman about the upcoming 2013 elections

Now that the 2012 election is over, I wanted to share some information with our members and guests.  The election we face in 2013 is critical for Virginia and it is important that when we leave the Convention on May 18th, we leave united and support our nominees.

At the state Convention we will nominate our candidates for governor, Lt. governor and attorney general.  Also, please do not forget we have all of our House of Delegate seats up for reelection and Delegate Bob “Coach” Tata from the 85th House District is retiring.  Therefore, we will be nominating a candidate to represent us for the General Election.  The current candidates who are seeking this seat are, 2nd District Chairman Gary Byler, former School Board member Patrick Salyer, Scott Taylor and Jeremy Waters.  We will hold a primary on June 11 to determine our nominee.  Reminder, only registered voters who live in the 85th House District can vote during the primary.

As chairman of our party, our objective is to ensure we reelect all of our Delegates and to ensure we retain the 85th House seat.  The party and Republicans from throughout the city have worked hard over the years to elect Republicans to serve us in the House of Delegate, and we need to ensure we keep all six Virginia Beach house seats in Republican control.

We are authorized 3265 Delegates and the same number of Alternate Delegates to attend the state Convention.  The Official Call was approved at our January city committee meeting by our members and it will be published in the Beacon in late February.  If you would like to become a Delegate for our state Convention, please visit our website http://www.rpvb.org or  the state party’s website http://www.rpv.org.  If fewer candidates file for Delegates than spaces available, all properly filed Delegates will be deemed elected and the Mass Meeting will be canceled.

The full Call, with additional details, can be found at www.rpv.org and www.rpvb.org.   As always, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me at chairman@rpvb.org.
